Day of insect catcher and exotic plants

Plants live everywhere on Earth, populating even the most unfavorable habitats thanks to their extraordinary adaptability. Good examples of this are the predators of the flora, the insect-catching plants.

On this thematic day, the attention is even more focused on them. Youth and adults can observe the structure of the traps through a microscope, find out where they live and exactly what kind of lifestyle the individual species lead.

Visitors can also listen to lectures about the plants at the stands.

Thus, from 11:00 a.m., Bálin Czuppon, the manager of the Predatory Garden, will present "The special life of insect-catching plants".

From 2:00 p.m., the already well-acquainted couple - György Kardos and Kálmán Kovács - will give a presentation: "Practical advice for keeping and propagating carnivorous plants at home".

At 3:00 p.m., from József Sára's presentation, we can find out what the "Possibilities of keeping exotic fruit and ornamental plants in Hungary" are like.

We welcome the little ones with games of skill and crafts.

Anyone who wants to grow an insect-catching plant at home will have the opportunity to do so. You can buy the plants on the spot, and you can get help from specialists regarding their care. Moreover, you can even set up your own florarium (mini garden enclosed in glass) that provides optimal conditions for the plant. For this, we provide a limited number of canning jars, so if you don't want to leave empty-handed, you should bring a canning jar larger than 7 dl.

Bee Day

We welcome those interested with playful, educational tasks, stations related to bees and beekeeping. We can learn, among other things, why pollen and propolis are useful, we can get to know the tools of beekeeping, the staff of the Botanical Garden will present the plants of the bee pasture. We can be part of a bee presentation with an observation hive, we can make wax candles and, of course, there will also be honey tasting.

The Hungarian Ornithological Association, the Csemete Nature and Environmental Protection Association, the Interactive Nature Knowledge Museum and the SZTE Faculty of Agriculture will be connected to the theme of the day with their stands.

Our partner in organizing the day is the Ambrózi Béla Báró Beekeeping and Environmental Protection Association.

Dog day

In view of the great success, it is Dog Day again in the SZTE Botanical Garden.

If you would like to take a long walk in the Botanical Garden, but do not want to leave your four-legged friend at home, we are waiting for you on Sunday, October 8, on an unusual Dog Day.

It is important that you cannot take the leash off your dog anywhere in the garden, as not only you will be here, but also other visitors. Please keep this in mind even if you are walking in a large grassy area. Swimming in the lakes and waters of the Füvészkert is prohibited! Unfortunately, you cannot enter the greenhouses together, but you can roam around the rest of the garden together.

It goes without saying that everyone should pick up the dog poop after their dog! With the redeemed HUF 500 dog ticket, everyone gets a bag.
